Baylands Equestrian Centre
is an Outreach Centre for the College of Animal Welfare providing recognised in-house equine training and qualifications.
 
 
Would you like a career in equine?
 
City & Guilds work-based learning diplomas are offered from Level 1 to Level 3. Students wishing to apply should in the first instance contact with details of their previous experience and state their aims. Should you have no equine experience there still may be a course to suit you.
16 - 19 year olds will need to provide copies of their G.C.S.E. English & Maths results. All potential candidates will be asked to attend a short meeting and written assessment (including riding if interested in taking that pathway).
 
Level 1
At level 1 there is a single pathway which deals with the basics ofhorse care: assisting with the care of horses and their accommodation, handling horses, putting on and taking off equipment, and maintaining safe and effective working practices.There is an optional riding unit available.
 
Level 2
At level 2 there is a single pathway which covers the following aspects of horse care: the health and well-being of horses, preparing horses for use, providing non-ridden exercise and aftercare, loading and unloading horses and health and safety.There is an optional riding unit available.
 
Level 3
At level 3, you will have the chance to specialise in the following areas depending on your area of interest:• Exercising• Schooling• Coaching• Competition. This qualification may take you to management level.
