Baylands Equestrian Centre
based in Stockwood Park, Luton
UPDATE: 7 AUGUST 2020
We plan to contact clients with outstanding bookings over the weekend and early next week to offer available sessions. If you had a booking please call us if have changed your contact details. All clients will need to fill out a new rider registration form - with additional confirmation that Covid-19 policies will be adhered to - this can be downloaded here. Participants refusing to adhere to guidelines or social distancing rules will be asked to leave and will lose their fee. See: Baylands Equestrian Centre Covid-19 Safety Rules.
A waiting list for new bookings is being taken. Should you wish to be added to this list please contact us.
This is new to all of us - please bear with us while we ensure systems are working, as we hope have a successful return to riding! Due to the limitation on numbers of people in one area and other measures relating to Covid-19 we aim to keep everyone safe, while receiving quality instruction and having as much fun as possible!
We have waited a little longer before opening to ensure we are able to do this especially due to increased infections in LU4 - along with needing to provide first aid safely, improve our horses fitness levels and follow all reliable advice. See: Return to Riding - Phase 4
The yard will remain closed to the public and clients. A temporary 'outdoor' office will be located at the gate. We politely ask that riders arrive with one other person if required and spectators return to their vehicle to observe (unless the rider requires specialist assistance). Riding hats will still be provided if required and disinfected, along with all other equipment between use.
Vouchers purchased prior to 21st March 2020 will be granted a
5-month extension to cover the period of closure.
UPDATE: 20 JULY 2020 - COVID-19
Baylands Equestrian Centre has still not returned to activities as yet. We have been in the process of confirming requirements relating to health & safety, first aid and ensuring Government and local authority guidelines can be met. Along with bringing our horses back into work. This is to continue to ensure the safety of our horses, staff, clients and their families.
There has been mention that we intend to start riding activities in August - at this current time this is still our tentative plan.
We will be firstly honoring outstanding bookings. Clients who had a booking prior to 'lockdown' will be offered first refusal on sessions. New bookings may then be taken.
There will be some changes to our processes, as expected. These will be explained to all clients during a telephone re-booking or booking process. We very much look forward to seeing you soon!
UPDATE: 20 MAY 2020 - COVID-19
Please be advised that Baylands Equestrian Centre will not be returning to activities yet. There has been some debate in response to the 'easing' of lockdown guidelines and the decision has been made to continue as we are for now. Hopefully we will be able to return to normal activities very soon. Our decision is due to - the risk not decreasing and the strict guidelines that are in place - activities may be less enjoyable and still hold the same risk as before announcements were made. Baylands aims to consider the health and well-being of our horses, staff, clients and their families above operating income.
Our horses are very happy and healthy, having been at rest during this time of isolation but will need bringing back into work for lessons to begin. We have followed guidelines strictly and therefore not completed any ridden activity - to protect ourselves, the horses and others. We will give notice of when we intend to bring the horses back into work, but for now they will continue to enjoy their holiday! Starting fitness programmes and stopping again could have a negative effect on their health and welfare, should a second lockdown be required, as has been observed in other countries.
We miss all of our clients and wish you all well. Please feel free to get in touch by telephone if you have any queries or need anything we can help with. Emails are not always reaching the office at this time.
UPDATE: 20 MARCH 2020 - COVID-19
Please be advised that regrettably after the government guidelines issued on Friday 20th March - Baylands Equestrian Centre will not be operating or open to the public with immediate effect. Our governing bodies - ABRS/The Pony Club - support this action to avoid unnecessary contact, travel or additional strain on the emergency services and NHS. We are aware that you may be disappointed and guidelines had up until Friday evening suggested we could continue, however this is a constantly and fast changing situation and we must behave responsibly. Staff will still be on site 24 hours to care for the animals and the office is still available by telephone should you have any queries or concerns. All bookings made will be honoured and hopefully we will see you soon.
